Project Description

Chop the top on a 1936 Ford Pickup truck, and upgrade the chassis and suspension
for a Roush 427 engine / 5-speed Tremec. Will have A/C and amenities for a nice driver.

Project Vehicle

After looking at a lot of possibilities for this hot rod truck project, we found a good
truck body in Texas and negotiated to purchase it without the engine and drivetrain.

Fellow hot rodder Roy Idman delivered it to Gearhead City.

Initial Inspection

Overall the body was in very good shape and while it had a Mustang II front clip
and 8" Ford rearend, Woodsy and the owner deemed it necessary to install a modern
rendition of the Mustang II and a 9" rearend.

It has the basics of a fun "Truck Rod"; a little refinement is in order.

Dismantling for Further Inspection

Because we were cutting off the front clip and installing a new crossmember,
that was the first thing we removed after the frame was blocked up for the chop.

These photos show what we are removing and various other areas that are to be corrected
while building this hot rod truck.
